The anklets are called “kholkhal”. They can be made from solid gold or silver. Such anklets were a wedding gift or dowry that the bride-to-be received from her future husband before the wedding. She wore it during the wedding celebration that traditionally lasted up to 7 days in the past. Afterwards, she could wear the kholkhal whenever she wanted. Today, this tradition has practically vanished.

Give those tables closest to the head table to your immediate family (parents, siblings, cousins, grandparents, etc), farther tables to not so close family members and friends, and the farthest tables to co-workers, childhood friends you don’t see that often, hired personnel (wedding photographer, wedding planner, florist – if you plan for them to stay for the wedding meal). This scheme is handy because those people who sit far from the head table are, mostly, young and don’t care that much about the importance of their seat, unlike your older relatives (your granny or aunts and uncles might take offense if their seats are too far from your main table).

When a Slovak bridal procession made their way to the church from the bride’s house, they were very loud. The more noise they made, the better. But why did they do it? It was believed that noise scared away the evil spirits. Slovak people are rather superstitious and they have always believed in evil spirits who try to harm people. It was considered that the bride was vulnerable during her walk to the wedding ceremony because she had already left her house and its protection and hadn’t yet reached her new house and new family. So, it was a dangerous time for the bride and she needed the protection of the crowd, her wedding procession.

If you’re planning to tan your skin for the wedding, remember several important issues. First of all, start early – about 2 months before the big day. It will give you time to recover if anything goes wrong. For example, if the color of spray tan doesn’t look natural. Make sure no white marks from bikini straps are visible.

The most widespread and usual wedding table centerpieces are created from flowers. But if you don’t want to use florals or wish to have something special on your wedding reception tables, use lanterns or a combination of lanterns and flowers / lanterns and candles. Lanterns look romantic, create a homey and dreamy atmosphere, and add warmth and light to the venue. You can buy them a lot cheaper on flea markets. But remember that if the lanterns have lit candles inside, you need to think about fire safety. Some venues don’t allow to use open fire, so the lanterns have to be closed.

Dance floor at a wedding reception is a great idea and it is worth having it. No matter whether you decide to hire a DJ or a live band, your guests will most definitely have a good time dancing. Especially kids and young women – they love dancing. And also, people can’t eat and drink the whole night – they need a break, and it’s cool when this break is active.

The best possible way to save money on a rehearsal dinner is to make a small meal in a restaurant, with only the closest people present. Don’t rent a venue or restaurant, just book a table or gazebo or something like that. If you invite more guests than your parents and wedding party, think about asking them to pay for their order or part of the order. Also, serve non-alcoholic drinks or only wine and beer – it’s cheaper and your guests will be in a better shape on the wedding day if they drink less.

Greenery always looks good as wedding décor items, so they can be a great idea for a wedding table centerpiece. Use potted herbs, cute little succulents, or charming houseplants. Put them in creative vessels, like wooden boxes, glass jars, handmade pottery, etc, and they will look charming on the wedding tables. But remember that you will have to deal with all these greenery after the wedding – make sure you know where to take a dozen or even a few dozens of plants. For instance, offer them as wedding favors for your guests or sell them after your big day.

In the Middle Ages, wedding dinner was more of a joint community’s dinner than a reception held by the couple. Of course, if we’re talking about ordinary citizens, because the royal newlyweds could easily afford a large feast for hundreds of wedding guests. By the way, people drank special bridal ale, brewed for this particular occasion.

A lot of brides begin their skincare prep for the wedding many months before the actual event. And that’s the right thing to do. But if you forget about your lips, the whole work is for nothing. On your wedding day, you kiss a lot – with your husband, family and friends, and dozens of wedding guests, so it’s very important to take care of your lips properly.
