While most brides pay really great attention to everything regarding their wedding – from wedding attire to hairstyle to wedding scenery and décor to their poses, and so on, grooms are usually not like that at all. Very few men envision their future wedding in detail and prepare for this day as they should. For example, have you fitted your wedding suit or tux perfectly? Have you thought about your posing for the wedding photos? Are you sure you’ve achieved the best wedding look possible? Here are a few useful tips from wedding photographers that will help you look perfect in your wedding pics.
Tip #1
Fit your wedding attire perfectly
It’s very important to wear a shirt, suit, and accessories that are perfectly fitted and matched. You might not pay too much attention to it, but later, you’ll see all the imperfections in your wedding photos. And you won’t be able to change a thing about it. So, it’s better to prepare beforehand so that you don’t regret afterwards.
Make sure your pants and jacket or tux are fitted to your body. If you’re buying your wedding clothing, choose the right design and color. Alter your suit if needed. If you’re renting the outfit, it’s better to have a try-out or send your measurements to the rental company so that they could offer you something that will fit as best as it can. Also, always get your wedding attire in advance to have time for any alterations or even a replacement if it’s ill-fitted.
Pick the accessories that look good with this particular outfit and are comfortable.
Tip #2
Some makeup for groom – yes if needed!
Don’t be embarrassed to use some concealer or makeup on your wedding day. There’s nothing strange about it. Men use makeup all the time – actors, newscasters, singers, etc. Skin imperfections are a usual thing, and if you have a chance to conceal a pimple that appeared right before your wedding day or any other blemish, do it. The way you look in your wedding pics is how your children and grandchildren will see you. Of course, some wedding photographers are willing to retouch the photos to get rid of any blemishes, but it might cost you extra and by far not all the shooters do it. It will be a lot easier and cheaper for you to just use a touch of makeup to achieve a perfect wedding look.
Tip #3
Enthusiasm and good mood are important for wedding photos
Some people don’t like to be photographed, and in most cases, it’s men we’re talking about. It might be uncomfortable for you to take portrait pictures. That’s understandable – every one of us is an individual with his/her own peculiarities. But remember that your wedding photos are something that is created only once in a lifetime, at least with this partner. Try to make an effort to look good and happy in these pics. Because it always shows when you’re unhappy or annoyed. There are ways to achieve a joyful look – from rehearsing your best smile in front of a mirror to faking enthusiasm to achieving a vibe-y mood with the help of music or favorite food, etc. Or maybe you just need to get used to a camera, so ask your friends or fiancee to snap you a few times every day so that it doesn’t feel so strange for you to be shooted.
Tip #4
Be careful with alcohol
A wedding is a merry and cheerful day, obviously. But make sure you and your bridal party don’t drink too much before the wedding ceremony. It can spoil the mood of your bride and guests, but it may also spoil your wedding photos and video footage. You’ll still have time for a good party after the ceremony, after your official wedding photoshoot and family photos. Again, these pictures will be seen by your relatives, offspring, and even outsiders (women like to show their wedding photos to anybody who’s willing to look). Drunk people don’t look good in the photos.
