Wedding gifts avaWedding gifts registry is a common thing these days. Most couples give their guests a list of things they would like to get as a wedding present. And for some couples, it can be a challenge to create such a list. So, a wedding planner asked around, analyzed many wedding registries, and selected the top 7 wedding gifts that people continue to use for decades after their wedding day – proved by experience. Consider including the following items in your wedding gifts registry.

When you’re thinking about wedding gifts, what first comes to mind is kitchen stuff, bedroom stuff, maybe some household appliances and tools, etc. And you’re right.

#1 Kitchen utensils

We all eat, we all invite guests to our home, and we need utensils to serve them food. It’s always handy to have a decent stock of forks, spoons, knives, various spatulas and serving spoons, etc. Because it’s a really awkward situation when you don’t have enough utensils for your guests. [Believe me, I’ve been in this situation!]

Besides, there is a variety of utensils that are seldom used and some people don’t even know what they’re needed for, but when the right moment comes, it’s good to have them. You wouldn’t normally buy these items, but you might get them as a wedding gift if you include kitchen utensils in your wedding registry.

#2 High-quality pots and pans

Even if you don’t really like to cook and rarely do it, you still need high-quality cookware for your kitchen. A family, especially with kids, means someone has to cook breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. There’s no way to skip this chore – you can order meal delivery only for so many times. So, it’s a lot comfier to cook at home in high-quality pots. When you’re creating your wedding gifts registry, consider including such items as casserole dishes or a Dutch oven, or a good cast iron, or any other pots&pans you think might be handy for you. If you favor a certain brand or material (copper, teflon, stainless steel, etc), you can specify it in the registry, too.

#3 Plates and bowls

Again, this is something you’ll use every single day, for ordinary meals and special occasions, for your family and invited guests. Even people who live alone use plates. In your wedding registry, you can ask for a large service set or for specific plates and bowls you like. Specify the color, shape, design, or size if you want. Or you can mention your no-no for the plates – for example, some people hate black plates or too variegated dinnerware items. In short, don’t be shy to specify what exactly you ask for, otherwise, you might get whatever your wedding guests consider beautiful, and it’s not always we can count on other people’s taste.

#4 Cups and glasses

There was a time when friends liked to give me tea cups (some were funny, others charming, or even ugly) as a small present for some occasions, and I thought, “OMG, I don’t need that many cups in my life!”. Guess what? A few decades have passed, and I still use those cups when I have guests. It turned out, I really need that many cups!

Don’t forget coffee cups. You will definitely have friends who can’t spend a day without coffee.

And with glasses, if you have a wet bar at home, you need a variety of glasses and goblets for different drinks – wine, champagne, whiskey, cocktails, martini, shots, beer, and whatever else you drink. It would be a sizable sum to buy so many sets of glasses. Thank God, we have wedding registries and can just ask our guests for it.

#5 High-quality kitchen knives

A good and expensive kitchen knife set is something every household needs. And, of course, you always pay for quality, so it won’t be cheap. This is why this item occurs in most wedding registries. Join the club! You will never regret owning high-quality kitchen knives.

#6 Servingware

Good hosts know that your holiday table or even small party table looks much better when the food and drinks are served in pretty servingware. Most probably, these things won’t be among the first kitchen stuff items you’ll buy for your new home – they’re expensive and not your basic necessities. But to have them in your kitchen is a blessing. So, include in your wedding gifts registry some servingware – trays, nice salad bowls and fruit bowls, platters, lidded serving bowls, pitchers, sauce boats, and so on.

#7 High-quality linens

You can buy everything you need for your new home, including bed linen, towels, tablecloths, duvets, and so on, but, probably, you will never be ready to spend on these items as much as your wedding guests would. That’s why always include high-quality linens in your wedding gifts registry and let your family and friends spoil you with the fluffiest towels and the comfiest bed linens.
