Most weddings in Bangladesh are celebrated in winter. This tradition historically comes from agricultural practices. After the local farmers finished harvesting rice, they had a month of rest – that’s when they historically had weddings. They had a lot of free time and fresh food, so it’s only logical. Even today in urban areas, this tradition is often still followed, partially because the weather is the best at this season and there are holidays in schools.
