Food and drink avaAre you thinking about having a cocktail bar at your wedding? Then this article is just for you. We’ve prepared some really nice tips that will help you organize a perfect wedding bar station. Here’s just one of the tips: did you know that you can have a tasting before hiring a cocktail company? That’s right! Have some fun! Most of the reputable vendors offer such an option, so you can pick a few cocktails to be served at your wedding or just make sure the bartender is a professional.

Tip #1

If you’re having a cocktail bar at your wedding, make it good. What we mean is that beverages are expensive and a skillful bartender also is paid much, so be ready to spend some money to have a nice cocktail station. If you can’t afford a decent bar station, it’s better to not have any at all than to make your guests stress over unpalatable cocktails or bad service.

Tip #2

There are two options with a wedding cocktail station: to have a free bar or to have your guests pay for their drinks. Of course, fancy weddings usually offer the wedding guests their drinks for free, but it is a huge part of the wedding budget and not every couple can afford it. So, many couples have a cocktail bar where you must pay for your beverage – it’s totally normal and customary these days. Also, you would be surprised to know how many wedding guests waist the drinks or drink too much just because it’s for free. And when you pay for your cocktails, you’re usually more disciplined and responsible.

Tip #3

Have different options of cocktails for your wedding guests. People are different and their tastes are different, so make sure that everybody will find a drink they like. There should be stronger and lighter cocktails, some common drinks and something unusual or exotic, etc. Offer a variety of at least 5 possible cocktails of choice.

Tip #4

Did you know that you can have a tasting before hiring a cocktail company? That’s right! Have some fun! Most of the reputable vendors offer such an option, so you can pick a few cocktails to be served at your wedding or just make sure the bartender is a professional.

Tip #5

Have signature cocktails. These can be 2-3 different options of drinks on the menu that show your wedding style and let your guests make an easy pick. If they want something different, they can order it. Though, there are lots of people who don’t care that much what cocktail to have and will settle for anything you offer. It helps to move the line faster. And again, it saves your guests from stressing over their drink choice. When you’re choosing your signature cocktails, work with popular beverages and make them differ from one another. If you know for sure that many of your guests don’t drink alcohol, make 1 of the signature cocktails alcohol-free.

Tip #6

Have enough bartenders. When there’s not enough servers, people start to make lines and nobody likes lines. Professional vendors recommend to have 1 bartender per about 70 guests. But it depends greatly on the number and difficulty of cocktails on the menu among other things. If the bar offers only signature cocktails, it takes much less time, obviously.

Tip #7

Use disposable cups. Sure, they don’t look as fancy as beautiful glass or crystal glasses but they have several advantages. First of all, you won’t need servers to gather dirty glassware. Also, you won’t have to worry about broken glasses – and it’s a common occasion when there are so many tipsy people around.

To have a wedding bar station is a great idea, it helps the guests relax and strike up a conversation with each other easily. But make sure to choose a reputable vendor and organize the bar station well. Good luck and make some time to just enjoy your wedding!
